About Kasthuri Sreenivasan Art Gallery & Textile Museum
The Kasthuri Sreenivasan Culture Centre was conceptualised and built by Kasthuri Sreenivasan (1917–1991) — Padma Bhushan awardee, textile technologist, industrial sociologist, and Founder Director of the South India Textile Research Association (SITRA), Coimbatore’s premier textile research body. As you walk in through the main doors, the Art Gallery opens to the right and the Textile Museum to the left, with the statue of Sivakami Amman greeting visitors in the alcove between them.
The Textile Museum (Rooms 11–17) is Coimbatore’s only dedicated textile heritage museum, tracing the growth of spinning and weaving from the whorl wheels of ancient Egypt and the spinning wheels of Mohenjo-daro through to the Industrial Revolution and modern India, using charts, models and actual machines.
The Art Gallery (Rooms 1–10) houses century-old Tanjore paintings, South Indian bronzes, a Gupta-period terracotta head, a Gandhara stone sculpture, 36 original works by Barbara Sreenivasan, paintings by modern Indian masters, international art from Egypt to Japan, and European reproductions from da Vinci to Picasso.
A fully air-conditioned, 195-seat auditorium hosts painting exhibitions, recitals and cultural events through the year, including the Trust’s ongoing “Aurora Series” exhibitions and an annual Inter-Collegiate Textile Quiz — and entry to the entire Culture Centre is free.

ஜவுளி அருங்காட்சியகம் (அறை 11–17) கோயம்புத்தூரின் ஒரே தனி ஜவுளி பாரம்பரிய அருங்காட்சியகமாகும். பண்டைய எகிப்தின் விர்ல் சக்கரங்கள், மொஹஞ்சதாரோவின் நூற்சக்கரங்கள் தொடங்கி தொழில் புரட்சி வரையிலான, நவீன இந்தியா வரையிலான நூற்றல் மற்றும் நெசவின் வளர்ச்சியை விளக்கப்படங்கள், மாதிரிகள், நேரடி இயந்திரங்கள் மூலம் இங்கு காணலாம்.
