Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information KovaiGuide.co.in collects, why, and what choices you have. We keep it short and plain. By using the site or submitting a form, you agree to it.

Who we are

KovaiGuide.co.in is a city guide and local directory for Coimbatore, operated by R. Balasubramaniam, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. We decide why and how the personal information described here is used, which makes us the “data fiduciary” under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Our Terms & Conditions also apply.

What we collect

You submit a business listing Business name, description, address, phone and WhatsApp numbers, e-mail, website and social links, GST number, logo, photos, product details, and the name of the person who submits it.
You post a job, property, event, offer or stay The details you enter, such as company or owner name, contact numbers, e-mail, address or area, price, descriptions and photos.
You pay for a plan or post The UPI receipt or screenshot you send on WhatsApp, with the amount, date and transaction ID. If we use an online payment gateway, the gateway handles your card or bank details and we do not store them.
You post a review Your name, e-mail address, rating and comment. WordPress also records your IP address with a comment. Your e-mail address is not shown publicly.
You contact us or claim a business Your name, e-mail, phone number, message, and any details you give to prove you run the business you are claiming.
You use WhatsApp, Call or Email on a listing A count that the button was used. Your message itself goes to the business and is not read by us.
You visit the site Technical information such as IP address, browser, device and pages visited, kept in server logs. The IP address is also used to limit repeated form submissions and to block spam.

Business, job and property details are shown publicly on purpose, so people can contact the business, employer or owner. Please do not put in a listing any personal detail you do not want published.

Why we use it

  • To create, check, publish and renew your listing or post.
  • To confirm your payment and approve your plan.
  • To show reviews and to remove fake or abusive ones.
  • To contact you about your listing, renewal, a review or a problem.
  • To prevent spam, fake listings and fraud, and to keep the site secure.
  • To understand how the site is used and improve it.
  • To meet legal and accounting requirements.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

  • The public: the details in a published listing, post or review (not the reviewer’s e-mail address).
  • The business, employer or owner you contact: whatever you send them, so they can reply to you.
  • Service providers: our hosting and e-mail providers, the UPI and payment services used for payments, and WhatsApp (Meta) when you message us. They handle data only to provide their service.
  • Authorities: where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

WhatsApp, calls, e-mail and videos

The WhatsApp, Call and Email buttons open the WhatsApp app, your phone dialler or your e-mail program. From that point, the conversation is between you and the other side, under the policies of those services. We do not read your messages.

Some pages play YouTube videos through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube may set cookies when you press play, under its own policy.

Information kept in your browser

The catalogue cart saves the items you add, and the product grid remembers your layout choice, in your own browser. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us until you choose to send a WhatsApp message. You can clear it by clearing your browser data.

How long we keep it

  • Listing details: while your listing exists. Ask us to remove it and we will.
  • Job posts: shown until the paid period ends, then removed from public view. We keep the record for up to 12 months.
  • Property listings: until you tell us the property is sold or rented.
  • Reviews: while they are published, unless you ask us to remove yours.
  • Payment receipts and records: as long as accounting and legal rules require.
  • Server logs: a limited period, then they are deleted.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including access control, HTTPS and spam protection. No website can be made completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you,
  • correct or update it,
  • delete it, or remove your listing, post or review,
  • stop using it where you gave your consent, which you can withdraw at any time, and
  • deal with a complaint about how we handled it.

Write to bala@brusoft.in. We reply within 15 days. Some records, such as payment receipts, may have to be kept to meet legal requirements. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

Listings and posts are for adults. You must be at least 18 to submit one. We do not knowingly collect information from children for listings or posts.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the new version is posted here with its date.
